Appeals to Antiquity: Propaganda Techniques

You’ll notice in so many things, people appeal to some kind of ancient times, as if modern concepts need to have some ancient connection. Anytime someone says a thing is “as old as time” or something like “the ancient Egyptians did this or that” you know you’re being lied to and hustled.

This is part of the larger concept of history as propaganda. I don’t care what someone did before, or if something was done by other people, my only question is: should we do this today? I don’t care what the ancient Egyptians did, or Native Americans, or whoever. Maybe humanity is having new ideas now that are better than ever, should it matter that it’s new? Or should we always look back to Greek philosophy, as if that was peak humanity (it wasn’t). It’s all propaganda to appeal to the past.

Being ancient doesn’t mean something is legitimate. I don’t care if the book was written 5000 years ago or yesterday, should I read it today? Being old doesn’t mean it’s legitimate or good, plenty of old things are terrible and should be tossed in the trash.

The past is often used as a tool of control, such as the Roman Catholic Church or Greek philosophy, which are absolutely tools of propaganda and control today. There’s a reason the elites still learn Latin & Greek, these are languages of the elite controllers of the world.
